Urinary Leakage

If pads and panty liners are important in your life we hope to be able to change that for you. Urinary leakage can occur after standing up quickly, jogging, jumping, coughing, sneezing, and durring regular exercise. The leakage does not improve spontaneously and gradually becomes worse. Doing nothing is also expensive, the purchase of sanitary pads has been estimated to cost $600 – $800 per year for a woman with urinary leakage incontinence.

Mild to moderate urinary leakage is a common symptom of laxity and weakening of the tissue and muscles of the pelvic floor. It is often seen after multiple vaginal deliveries, after delivery of a large baby as well as after instrumental deliver (such as forceps) but it also occurs because of normal aging.

Urinary incontinence is a condition that often responds to surgical intervention, but failures are common. Surgery is also expensive and has the disadvantage of considerable downtime and is not a good choice if more children are planned. For this reason, non-surgical procedures for urinary leakage have been developed.

Radio frequency (RF) energy penetrates deeper into the tissue than other forms of energy. When the RF energy hits the periurethral tissue it stimulates the release of growth factors from local stem cells. These growth factors thicken the urethral tissue with increased production of fibroblasts, elastin, collagen, small new nerve fibers and blood vessels. These changes make you able to control urinary leakage.

At Friberg Medical Associates we treat your urethra with transvaginal and transabdominal RF energy. We recommend 3 treatment sessions 4 weeks apart for about $700 per treatment. Treatment is painless and takes about 15 minutes. Afterwards you are directly back to normal activity.
